A specialist dementia care facility.
Back in 2016 Belinda from Kumeu Village contacted us to see if we would be interested in being involved with the first Dementia Care unit of it’s type in New Zealand.
The Vineyard Villa has 15 care rooms, surrounding an Italianate Trettoria central area, housing a living area with double sided fireplace, separate dining, kitchen and library.
The fifteen rooms all have different fenestration in terms of their doors or surrounds to the doors.
This helps the residents identify their room, thus making them feel more comfortable.
The lofty 3.6m stud height, oversized skylights and use of mixed textured wall linings helps to give the place a warm inviting appearance.
Outside a petting zoo with kunekune pigs, goats, chooks and rabbits, along with a resident cat helps to create a homely environment.
Residents are less stressed therefore rely less on medications, giving them a better quality of life.
It was an absolute pleasure to be able to be involved with Belinda on this project. We have since completed another project remodelling and refurbishing a large house into another 15 bed facility”
